Work experience
Water Resources Engineer/Numerical Modeler Jacobs, Sacramento, CA [Apr 2021 - Present]
- Developing and applying cutting edge tools to support hydraulic, hydrologic, and hydrodynamic analyses for local, state, and federal agencies
Water Resources Engineer/Numerical Modeler RMA Inc., Walnut Creek, CA [Jan 2020 - Feb 2021]
- Assisted federal agency for a time-critical project with the estimation of impacts of planned flow action scenarios on abiotic habitat of endangered fish species
- Sourced, cleaned, and engineered data from 75+ field stations maintained by federal, state, and local agencies to calibrate and run 3D & 2D hydrodynamic simulations
- Supported 3D hydrodynamic model development to estimate spatiotemporal velocity components in the river that effect juvenile fish passage through a weir at different river stages • Developed non-parametric models to correlate fish-food abundance and abiotic parameters • Created data-analysis and data-visualization pipelines in Python
Research Assistant, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering University of Washington, Seattle, WA [Sep 2012 - Dec 2019]
- Developed novel multi-staged models in Python to investigate ecosystem sensitivity to topography, climate, and disturbances like wildfires
- Predicted historical (past ~13k years) species abundance for a watershed in central New Mexico
- Created geospatial and meteorological data-pipelines to infer temporal ecosystem states
- Developed instructional tutorials for adaptation of ecohydrologic models developed in Landlab
- Served as an instructor for workshops to help scientists and students adapt Landlab
Research Assistant, Department of Engineering Mechanics University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE [Jan 2010 - Jun 2011]
- Designed and fabricated an ultrasonic bioreactor to automate chondrocyte cell culture
- Scripted the custom control software using Matlab for the bioreactor
Student Worker, Department of Natural Resources University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE [Jan 2009 - Aug 2009]
- Modeled Aeolian dunes using numerical model developed in Matlab and investigated the effect of environmental conditions on formation of these dunes
